Building a movement for animals, one electorate at a time.

Animal welfare policy doesn’t shift just because people care - it shifts because people show up. Victorian Animal Reform Advocates (VARA) is a network of advocates across Victoria: a grassroots community of passionate people who are advocating for reforms to improve animal welfare across the state.

You’ll work alongside others who care as much as you do, building real relationships with Members of Parliament, and see your work make a real difference. No political or policy experience needed - just a willingness to turn up and a passion to advocate for animals!

Expression of Interest

What being a VARA actually involves:

Connection and community

Through regular catch-ups and collaborative actions, the network aims to foster a community built around a shared purpose. You’ll share knowledge and experiences with fellow advocates working on the same goals in different electorates around the state.

Access to experienced advocates

You will have access to experienced campaigners at the Alliance for Animals who will provide important updates on current opportunities, strategic guidance and advice, and valuable resources on a range of policy issues.

Making an impact on decision-makers

You’ll work with other advocates to engage in joint actions, such as outreach and petitions in target electorates, organising meetings with MPs, and letter-writing actions.
