Networks

Our networks include national and global initiatives improving coordination and cooperation on crucial governance and animal protection issues.

  • #FairGoForAnimals Allies Network

In addition to our core members, we actively encourage other organisations who support our vision and objectives to join our #FairGoForAnimals Allies network and help build the capacity and impact of the animal protection community. If your organisation is interested in joining, please apply today. We welcome applications from a wide variety of organisations and sectors. Organisations in our #FairGoForAnimals network receive tailored periodic update emails on our work, opportunities to support our reform campaigns and access to skills and information sharing.

  • Companion Animal Network Australia

Companion Animal Network Australia (CANA) is a national charity representing the companion animal welfare work of six member agencies – Animal Welfare League, Animal Welfare League Queensland, Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania, Lort Smith Animal Hospital, Saving Animals From Euthanasia Inc (SAFE) and Sydney Dogs & Cats Home. The Alliance has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CANA, recognising the essential work CANA performs in the sector and our mutual goal of pursuing reform that delivers high animal welfare standards for companion animals.

  • Allies for Uluru

The Allies for Uluru Coalition is made up of over 200 community, non-government and corporate organisations from across the country that have come together to support the implementation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, starting with the establishment of a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution. The Alliance has joined the Coalition to connect with other organisations and make history together in support of the Uluru Statement’s core calls for Voice, Treaty and Truth.

  • Better Chicken Commitment

The Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) is a science-based chicken welfare policy that addresses issues related to breeding for fast-growth and high-yield, housing, stocking density, and slaughter. The Alliance is a supporter of the BCC as the policy constitutes the leading set of standards for broiler chicken welfare, helping to drive the food industry towards higher welfare practices.

  • Representing Animals

Representing Animals is an international network working on strengthening the institutional representation of animals, acting as a bridge between academics, NGOs and politics. As animals are inevitably affected by politics, they need appropriation representation in political institutions. Representing Animals envisions a world in which the interests of animals are represented in parliaments and ministries. The Alliance supports the work of Representing Animals, which aligns with a number of our institutional reform goals under the #FairGoForAnimals reform framework.

  • Our Democracy

The #OurDemocracy campaign is a nation-wide movement of people and organisations who want a healthy Australian democracy which works for all of us, not just for the powerful few. The campaign brings together people, organisations, and experts from across the country to work towards a shared vision – a political system where our elected representatives reflect the values and concerns of our communities, and decision making is balanced and fair, with people and the planet at its heart. The Alliance has endorsed the #OurDemocracy campaign, as our overall goal is to make Australian democracy work better for all animals.

  • #CharitiesForImpact

#CharitiesForImpact is a group of not-for-profit organisations calling for the empowerment of Australia’s impact-focused not-for-profit organisations. The aim of #CharitiesForImpact is to reform the regulation of charities, so they are guided towards impact and encouraged to advocate, engage and unite the Australian community. The group also has a focus on broadening the eligibility of Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status to include all animal welfare organisations.

  • Stronger Charities Alliance

Stronger Charities Alliance (SCA) is an alliance of over 120 charities, initially formed in response to proposed legislation threatening to silence charities on issues of national importance. SCA has a vision of a thriving not-for-profit sector, where charities are empowered to advocate for lasting change for our communities. The Alliance is proud to be a member, and supports SCA’s renewed focus on bringing civil society organisations back into the heart of government policy-making.

  • World Federation for Animals

World Federation for Animals (WFA) was founded in 2020 by 19 national and international animal protection organisations, with the aim of working together to elevate animal protection within global policymaking. WFA's goals include achieving UN recognition of the importance of animal welfare within dedicated international instruments, strengthening international health and environmental protection regimes by integrating animal welfare and amending international trade, aid, subsidy and investment rules to improve animal welfare. The Alliance joined WFA in 2023 as an Associate Member to learn from and collaborate with their global network of organisations on international policy, advocacy and communications strategies.
