It’s time to strengthen Victoria’s animal protection laws

Did you know that Victoria’s animal welfare laws are some of the oldest in the country?

In 2017, the Labor Government promised to modernise animal protection laws, replacing the outdated Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 with a new Animal Care and Protection Bill.

But years have passed, and the Bill has not been introduced. Call on the Premier to fulfil their promise to animals.

Animals in Victoria are being failed by laws written nearly 40 years ago.

The POCTA 1986 no longer reflects modern science or community expectations. While the government fails to act, vulnerable animals are left to suffer.

By sending a letter today, you can help place pressure on Premier Jacinta Allan to deliver on this promise and ensure animals finally receive the legal protections they deserve.
